Don’t Call It a Comeback
The technology industry soared in the early pandemic years, only to fall back to earth as macroeconomic forces—including elevated interest rates, softened consumer demand, and global uncertainty—weighed down its spectacular growth. For many, 2023 was a year of tremendous tumult…which is just the kind of crucible that forges fresh innovation. The corner has been turned. Green shoots have emerged. Glimmers of hope have appeared. With economic optimism on the horizon and recession risk in the rearview, is a tech comeback in the cards? Where have futurists placed their bets? Who has best prepared for the opportunities ahead? And will this year’s political cycle help or hurt the tech industry’s ability to land a knockout punch?
Going into its 23rd year, Fortune Brainstorm Tech is one of the most high-profile and established tech conferences in the U.S. The event that began in Aspen in 2001 as a small conference and summer retreat for those interested in discussing global business issues and innovation has grown into a community of leaders from Fortune 500 companies, along with top investors, VCs, banking executives, startup founders, and global thought leaders. Gathering again at the Montage Deer Valley, the program delivers the hallmarks of FORTUNE Live Events: engaging content, impactful networking, and meaningful takeaways, always in an idyllic setting to exchange ideas and build relationships that offers the very best in curated activities, cuisine, and entertainment.
In 2023, we brought Brainstorm Tech to Park City, Utah (also known as “Silicon Slopes”) for the first time. We were joined by CEOs Wemimo Abbey of Esusu, Immad Akhund of Mercury, Deborah Liu of Ancestry, Thibaud Hug de Larauze of Back Market, Raquel Urtasun of Waabi, Antonio Neri of HPE, Dr. Lisa Dyson of Air Protein, and Amit Patel of Rakuten Americas; Founders Andy Dunn of Bonobos, and Vivian Chu of Diligent Robotics; Investors Keith Rabois of Founders Fund, Kirsten Green of Forerunner Ventures, and Al Gore of Generation Investment Management; as well as Director of The White House Office of Science and Technology Dr. Arati Prabhakar, Mayor of Miami Francis Suarez, Meta VP of Metaverse Vishal Shah, and Captain of Moonshots at X Dr. Astro Teller.
